Life in Mission Beach isn’t all work and no play. I’ve met a lot of great people who have welcomed me into their lives and their homes. Their hospitality has been incredible, and I’m so grateful to have this experience.
Nicole is a kind woman who I met through Tanya and the shelter. She and her daughter Zoe pop in to drop off donations once a week. Nicole usually brings things like sweet potatoes, apples, rolled oats, Napisan, tissues and other items for the joeys.
Her love for animals includes domestic ones as well, and she provides a service called Pet Buddies – Pet Minding to folks living in Mission Beach, Tully, Bingil Bay, Wongaling, Carmoo and El Arish. It is a pet walking and pet sitting business that provides excellent care for your animals while you’re away from home.
One night she invited some friends over for dinner at her place. Unfortunately, Karlie couldn’t make it, but Tanya and I eagerly accepted. Dinner was excellent – salad, bread, lasagna and dessert – and the company was even better. Who could ask for more?
As a somewhat full-time traveler these past couple of years, I have seen heaps of amazing things and been to wonderful places beyond description. But, the best part of traveling is these human interactions. Meeting strangers who turn into friends truly makes the traveling so much more meaningful.
