The Many Faces of Elliot

I know people say parents don’t have a favorite child and that they love each kid equally, but everyone knows that’s a complete lie. I suppose it’s the same with me and the animals in care at the shelter.

Elliot is by far my favorite baby. He’s an eastern grey kangaroo with the softest fur, floppy ears and a happy-go-lucky personality. When the agile wallabies are up to something naughty, Elliot can’t be bothered to partake in their mischief. He might be a little slow on the uptake, which Tanya tells me is part of the general personality of the greys, but he’s lovely.

While I was at the shelter, Elliot grew big enough to go to pre-release. It was a sad day for many as we had all grown to love him dearly. But, it was encouraging to know that he would soon be back in the wild and find a new mob of others like him.

Here are some of my favorite photos of Elliot.
