Malaysian-Style Farewell Dinner

On my last night in Malaysia, Voon and Reena arranged for a farewell steamboat dinner at home. They spent most of the afternoon chopping and preparing everything for the hot pot, like chicken, seafood, veggies and dumplings.

Our mouths were watering by the time everything was ready, and we all dug in with groans of approval. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had and much of that had to do with the company. We laughed and talked and shared stories about our lives.

I can’t believe I met these girls in New Zealand and worked with them for a few short weeks. Now here I was enjoying their hospitality in their home and their country. Traveling really does broaden your scope and understanding about life. It introduces you to people and experiences that you would never know unless you stepped outside of the orderly box that is your everyday life.
