Visiting Hamilton Gardens

The first stop on our epic road trip of New Zealand’s North Island was Hamilton and the lovely Hamilton Gardens. It was a nice, sunny day to walk around the grounds. There were a lot of families out and about setting up picnic lunches with children playing nearby.

My mom and I walked through the rose gardens and up to the greenhouse area. Despite the initial crowds, there weren’t many people walking along the paths and we were often left to our own company.

The temperature was nice and the breeze was cool. This is one of the things I’ve come to love about New Zealand. You can enjoy the sun without sweating due to the heat and humidity. The air is always cool here, which makes it very pleasant to be outdoors.

After enjoying the botanical gardens, we headed south to Taupo and stopped briefly at the amazing Huka Falls. Even though this was the third time I’d been here, the sound of the rushing water still thrilled me. The icy blue color glimmered in the sunlight like a precious jewel.

How’s your mom enjoying herself in NZ? That’s one of my fav countries. Why did I think you were in Canada?
